Voting: National or Labour?

Hi there blogging world, for week nine we learnt about voting. We learnt about how to vote. This Saturday most of your parents will be voting .  Will they vote for  Labour, National or  another party.

This is how you vote: To vote you first have to enrol online or  call the Electoral Commission. After you have enrolled you should get an information pack in the mail. First we had to find out what electorate we were in. You can find it on elections.org.nz.  For your parents to vote they don't need to find their electorate  because it will already be there when they enrol. For your parents to vote they must find the voting booth nearest to them. We had to do the same except our voting booth was in the classroom because we set up a fake one. We had to say our first and last name and our electorate and address. Then the people behind the desk crossed our name out and gave us the voting paper for our electorate. There are two parts to the voting paper there is a party and a MP (member of parliament) If you vote for National it does not  mean you have to vote for the MP that belongs to National. Voting is very fun. Since I am not old enough to vote, our votes will be included into a survey for the gouverment.

How to write a good comment

Hi there blogging world and For cyber smart we learnt about writing a smart comment. First we had to go to the Ako Hiko website and pick an individual blog as an example. I chose Essa from Owairaka District School. Next we had to  fill in the slideshow template. Then we had to make a screen-castify explaining  the slideshow and explaining how to write a good comment. I hope you learn something from my video because every Friday we have to write a comment so I  think that I am very good at commenting and hopefully I helped you too so you can use those skills to write a comment on my blog. Here is my video:

Crazy science magic show

Hi there blogging world! On Monday we had a magical experience because the crazy science show came to our school. The science people were called Richard and Robin. Robin was the D.J and Richard was the scientist. Before the show started he did a few magic tricks. Richard asked us if we thought it was magic or science most of the people thought it was magic. Then Richard explained that magic is science. So I guess science is the new cool😎.  My favourite part was when he threw the grain in the air and it made fire. The reason he made fire is because to make fire you need heat, oxygen and some sort of flammable thing. With grain when it is packed tightly and you add heat there is no fire. Why? because there is no oxygen but if you added heat to the grain and throw it in the air it makes fire.  We also did an experiment with nappies. Richard poured the powder out of a nappy and put it into a cup the powder is called polymer. Then he got yellow water that looked like pee and added it to the polymer and when he decided to pour it out it was a solid and not a liquid. I really liked having the crazy science show come to our school I hope they come again. One question I would ask Richard was why after he threw the grain in the air the fire  faded away after a second? When I go home I am going to put a ping pong ball on top of my hair dryer and turn the air cold and blow it to see if it will stay even when I move my hair dryer.

Forlorn song

HI there blogging world. In week five we went on a ski camp. I then wrote a couplet poem about the snow mountains and about how I hardly see snow since I live in Auckland.  I all so drew and coloured an illustration. A couplet poem is a poem when the last two words of the sentence rhyme.  First we planned our poem in our literacy book. Then we planned our illustrations in our art books. Then we did our good copy and we also coloured it in. My poem is called Forlorn song here is a picture of my poem and it's illustration.

                             Forlorn song
The big blue sky
Lies above the mountain so high
Snow so white and pale
Just like a fairy tale
The air lies cold
While I wait to be told
The breeze so mild
The kids go wild
A layer of frost so thin
My face forms a grin
For once I feel like I belong
In this forlorn song

Mt Ruapehu camp

Hi there blogging world, I recently just went on  a school camp. For school camp we went skiing and snow boarding  at Mount Ruapehu. I had so much fun. We also had lots of stops. This slide show contains every detail about my trip please read it through. The challenges of camp were skiing. On the first day I couldn't quite pick it up but on the second day I was whizzing up and down the mountain. There was plenty of other activities to do  on the mountain other then skiing and snowboarding. I also went sight seeing on the chairlift and I went tobogganing. The dinner was also quite yum I loved the lasagna . During the long bus rides me and my friend Joyce learnt the universal alphabet we also made our own alphabets. My name in the universal alphabet is  Delta Oscar Romeo Alpha. Another challenge was getting off the chairlift I fell two times but after I could get off the chairlift properly.

In the process of skiing I fell down a lot and I mean a lot. From my camp experience I learnt to not give up and I learnt to persevere and when I persevered I learnt how to ski.
Please comment down below telling me a time when you had to persevere too Blog ya later
